    My daughter needed to cover a glass panel next to her front door providing more privacy. This is the "wall hanging" I tackled as my first quilting project. Fell in love at first sight with Batik fabrics.

    I saw this table runner and placemat pattern and loved it - as I do batiks. The set has 6 placemats. It took a while to quilt all of these but I'm thrilled with the result.

    I took a table runner class at my Local Sewing machine shop. I made a herringbone table runner using triangles on a roll to paper piece it. Couple of pointers -- invest in a 1/4" foot (You'll be glad you did) and a small stitch length (1MM - 1.6MM) perforates the paper more and makes tearing it off at the end so much easier (of course the downside is that it is so hard to rip out a seam!) I started with 1MM and after having to rip out a seam, switched to 1.6MM. It did make the paper a little harder to remove.
