I first saw this pattern on “10 Tips for Great Baby Quilts from Marianne Fons” on YouTube. The pattern was created by Mary Fons. She named it “Little Lady”. I fell in love with this modern, colorful and fun take on a baby quilt. One of my cousins asked me to make a version with more “boy” colors. Challenge accepted! So I found beautiful batiks in blues and greens which is what my cousin asked for. I used River Valley Batiks by Kathy Engle for Island Batik and yardage (Nordic Trees for the binding). I also used the drunkards path circle template to create the blocks. I have only been quilting for about a year and a half so this one was a little bit of a challenge, but I LOVE the way it came out. I’m a big Mary Fons fan!

Baby Orange Peel

I am making a large orange peel quilt for my sister’s wedding and wanted a smaller quilt to practice the free motion quilting designs. This is the result. I used some Kona Ivory Yardage for the background, one batik charm pack for the petals and batik scraps from another project for the border. I free motion quilted it on my home machine with So Fine 50 wt pastel yellow thread.

Zoe's Quilt

Next was a younger, brighter baby quilt made with batik fabrics. I began to provide baby quilts in my church family. This was so much fun, and the colors were so bright and reminded me of watercolor (which I love to do as well) I believe I just sewed a 9 patch with the 5" precut squares, then cut in half and reassembled where they looked best. Pretty simple.

Arielle's Quilt #1

Well I started making a quilt for my nearly 2 year old son. The top is done and ready for the sandwich and I will upload a pic of that one too. I found a lot of fabric on amazon for a decent price and got to work. After finding MSQC and their amazing tutorials the quilt top just flew together and I finished it in under a week.

Friedrich Quilt #1

I started sewing back when I was 14 and joined the local 4H club, where sewing was a predominant part of the club. I used an old temperamental Singer that would nearly bounce off the table. I didnt like it. My mom then proceeded to cut up all our old sweaters and jeans for fabric and started making baby quilts. Years later I got a sewing machine from my mother in law for Christmas. And I have been a sewing monster. I needed some hobby to do to help wind myself down after a long trying day with the kids and I started making quilt tops for my kids. I also got in touch with the local quilting ladies and will be joining their branch of Victoria's Quilts. I bought all the fabric for his quilt on Amazon and went with a jungle theme.

Rainbow Baby Quilt

My friend's daughter was having her second child after 14 years. We were all so happy for her. Wanted something gender neutral, since we didn't know if baby was boy or girl. I had some Batik charms from a kit, I knew I wasn't going to make. Used MSQC white charms and sewed the charms on point. I used Finding Nemo fabric for the backing. That was the theme for the baby's room.
