My intention with Scrappy Patches was make a quilt that looked like I randomly sewed strips together when there was actually a plan in place. She fits the bill!     Summer Skateboard at the Beach

    This quilt was inspired by our recent trip to Maine this summer to attend a family wedding. We stayed at a beach house near Scarborough, Maine. I thought the fabric was appropriate as we indulged in a Lobster feed at the beach house. I used Jenny's skateboard pattern, 10" squares and fabric by the yard. The border print is orange and red lobsters as is the binding. MSQC machine quilted my quilt and I picked a flip-flop design for the quilting. The quilt traveled with us in our vehicle and was used not only in the beach house but also on the beach. This quilt will always help me to remember our amazing trip to Maine!

    I made this quilt for my husband for Christmas last year. In the summer we have a rather large vegetable garden and we do a lot of canning at the end of the summer to enjoy the fruits of our labor in the cold winter of South Dakota. I used Jenny's I Spy pattern (quart size jars) but added two borders. The first border is green lettuce and the outside border is red tomatoes. I splurged and used by the yard coordinating fabric for the backing, which is red, green and yellow pepper fabric. I wanted the jars to look like they are sitting on a wooden shelf so I used brown fabric. Also, I think the brown fabric makes the bright colors of the fruits and veggies "pop".

    Loved the Curved Log Cabin Quilt tutorial and wanted to make it in reds, golds, and greens. I was happy with how it turned out. I made too many blocks so I put the extras into a rows and furrows log cabin full size quilt.

    In God We Trust

    My sister, Marilyn's grandchild is getting married. I found out in April 2016 for a June wedding. Her grandchild, Chris is a military man like his father. I thought this would be a perfect time to make a Flag Rag Quilt. With extra fabric I made the red, white, and blue pillows for a finished look. This was a real pleasure to make. It just fills you with so much patriotism, everyone needs to make at least one of these quilts. What did I learn? - Fleece is great for tying a quilt but not for sewing four layers. (( I think I broke my tension dial on my sewing machine. )) Next time, I'll make my rag quilt with Flannel Fabric.
