The Big Chill

Design is by Sherri Noel at RebeccaMaeDesigns.com. This is my 12th quilt. I made it in 2018, a Holiday gift for 7 year old granddaughter Bennett, for all the chilly winter days that come along. Her name and the date are stitched into the border. I used a queen-size flannel sheet set for the top, batt, backside and one pillowcase with a green flannel cuff. Finished size is 63x64". The scrappy binding is left-over bits from the penquins' little scarves. Our long-arm quilter, LynATCamlynquiltsDOTcom, did free-motion Purls & Curls edge-to-edge. It looks like swirling snow. Scrappy Race Track

This is made from 10 years of scraps. I cut left over project material into 2 1/2 or 2 or 1 1/2 strips. And some into 5 or 2 1/2 squares. Or fat quarters sometimes. I had enough strips to make 2 quilts. 2nd not just quilted yet. Wil be a donation to VA rehab center. I sew the 2 inch and 1 1/2 inch strips together and trimmed to 2 1/2 to make seams even.

Triple Irish Chain

I had made a triple Irish chain quilt for my son and his wife a couple years ago and had a lot of leftover Moda summer breeze fabric to make another. I used charm packs and jelly rolls and had a layer cake of white fabric to use for the background. I loved the quilt and decided to make one for myself. I don't like all the empty blocks, so I decided to include little 4-inch log cabins in the empty spaces. On my son's quilt I included their special photos in the empty spaces. This is a fun and easy quilt to make. I quilted it on my domestic Brother Laura Ashley sewing machine.

Two little boys

My first quilts, were for my nephews. The first used a MQC tutorial, the Easy 10 minute block, using a layer cake (which I can no longer find the link for). I admit I much prefer the ease of using precuts. The second was a simple strip quilt, using fabric that I bought from a destash page. I added a third to the list, using a combination of the two styles, for my neice. Many years on, the boys still love their quilts.

Summer Banners

I made a fun quilt for one of my granddaughters whose favorite color was orange. I used the Our Town collection which included lots of bright colors, bicycles, and urban architecture. I backed it in fabric from the line and quilted it with an overall meander. It was perfect for her. I used the wedge template and Jenny's tutorial to make the banner quilt. It was my first time using the wedge template and I loved how the quilt came together. It was gifted for Christmas 2016.

Varsity Blues

A quilt can make a great gift for a young man graduating from high school. When his favorite colors are red, white, and blue, it can be a little more challenging to find a project that looks great without looking too patriotic (not that there's anything wrong with that!). This was a different take on a disappearing nine patch that I decided to play with, and I was very pleased how well it turned out.
