    I am finishing up projects while home due to covid-19. 3 years ago a friend who was a quilt shop owner now retired, donated plaid and flannel material to me to make a quilt for my hubby. I had much leftover so took the 3 boxes and cut them into workable 10, 5 inch squares and 2 1/2, 2 and 1 1/2 strips. I have donated it all to our quilter group at our church. It all will be quilts donated to needy places in community.

    I wanted to learn to free motion quilt so I decided to make a quilt from scraps that could be a throw away to practice on. Each block was quilted with a different pattern to practice. It turned out to be a lot more time consuming to do the "wonky" part than I thought, With all the pattern, it was also not the easiest thing to be able see what I was doing when I was quilting. Oh well, live and learn. All that pattern hides a multitude of sins. Ha! I quilted this in my little Brother machine with the 5" work space. After that adventure I went out and bought a bigger machine! It turned out better than I thought it would. Pepper the cat approves. Large lap quilt 72x72.

    A local quilt shop has an annual "challenging fabric challenge" which I decided to enter this year. The rules are that you buy a little paper bag in which is a half-yard of a fabric - you buy it without knowing what it is. Then, everyone who buys the challenge bag must make a quilt using at least 1/4 yard of that fabric. I used almost all of it in my quilt, which I used the Daisy & Grace Quilt as You Go 2 1/2" Hexagon Template Set - so fun and easy, and very satisfying project!
