"Topsy Turvy Moose" (Happy Hollow Designs)

I made this table runner for our "Spirit of Christmas" church bazaar to raise money for local causes. Before I took it in, my DH commented on how much he liked it. It sold in the first half hour on sale day. A friend came in looking specifically for my runner. She was sad when I told her it sold, so I promised to make her another. As long as I was starting over, I decided to make two at once so I could give one to hubby, too. Now, however, I've had enough of blanket stitching around moose antlers!

Dance of the Dragonflies Quilt

Block Magazine, Winter 2014 edition, from the Missouri Star Quilt Co. profiled a strip pieced, half square triangle quilt with an unusual twist. It's called Cutting Corners and as Jenny states, "...its gorgeously simple." The quilt blocks were surprisingly easy to put together. In fact, there are several layouts that one can experiment. I selected four batik and green tonal fabrics which seemed to fit this lap size quilt perfectly. The colors combined to give the quilt a random design. The colors and texture of the fabrics were inspired by the sights and sounds of lazy summer days by a lakeside cabin. I added a piano key border with the leftover strips. Then, I machine quilted an all over design of dragonflies and flowers with blue/green variegated thread on my embroidery machine. Jennie Doan's Cutting Corners would be a great pattern for both the novice and veteran quilter to try because of the design elements, eye catching appearance and versatility. Already thinking of trying this in another color way.

Superhero Placemats

Our son has recently moved to Canberra with work. He has furnished and is decorating his unit in his own eclectic style. He bought 4 different superhero cushions for his lounge/sofa. I found this Superhero fabric and made 4 different placemats and coasters for him. I hope they suit his nerdy style and decor.

Placemats for music lovers

I saw this music fabric in a LQS recently and thought it would make the perfect fronts for placemats for my son and daughter in law. They both love music and met in Orchestra. They are reversible with a simple white on black pattern on the back. I used straight line quilting and am quite leased with them. They actually look better than the picture.

My son recently moved to Canberra with work. He got an new apartment and furnished it to his eclectic tastes included superhero cushions. I have secretly made these placemats and coasters in Superhero fabric to add to his Nerdy and different tastes. Diagonally quilted using a walking foot.

Tumbaweeds Challenge 2016

I am a member of a Quilting Group, Tumbaweeds. One of the members issued a Challenge where she would sent each a half yard of fabric along with 3 paint chips. We could choose the project and had to use sent fabric and use fabric that matched as closely as possible the paint chips! I placed 2nd in the paint chip matching and will receive a prize(not here yet)! Someone else won the project...I made this Table Topper! Pattern from Connecting Threads.com Spiced Harvest Table Topper. I ordered kit but used my own fabrics!

Stargello

It's an easy pattern, but it takes some time to do. Worth the effort, because it's really pretty. It's strip pieced in a bargello style and cut using two purchased templates. It is about 42" square. Next steps are to applique a circle in the center, then sandwich and quilt.

PATRIOTIC TABLE RUNNERS

I just had the time of my life, quilting, creating, researching, executing, designing and getting paid. A friend of a cousin asked if I could make 10 patriotic table runners by 9/30/16. I told her my price and she said YES. Hi, Ho, Hi Ho it is off to the sewing room I go. I used some of the templates that I already owned and wanted to give them a try. Plus, I went on youtube and got a lot of MSQC tutorials there. Pinterest was a big help for inspiration and color schemes. Would I do this again, Definitely, YES. Did I learn anything, A lot. It is really important to make sure your binding is long enough. The twister tool really shrinks - DAH- a 5 inch square is cut down to a 3 1/2 inch square, therefore, it is going to shrink. Quilting makes learning just too much fun.
