Connie's quilt

I bought a layer cake of this fabric, which is totally my friend Connie. I decided to make the friendship braid, cutting the layer cake in 2 1/2" strips. I used the binding tool to cut the angle. Then started. I added a wider sashing and border to make it wider. I have started quilting, simple stitch in ditch on braids, but will make a swirly quilting border.

My Hapi Quilt

My Hapi Quilt uses a Stacks and Stacks Quilt Block example that I found in a magazine. I wanted to whittle down my growing stash. The idea allows for taking any of your leftover fabrics from other projects, even down to a one or two inch piece. Each block measures 9 1/2 inches by 9 1/2 inches. The center of each block is a half square triangle. I tried to make these with the same fabrics for continuity. The sashes and borders were also from my stash. I was gratified to see it all come together as I stitched the blocks. The quilt fits a twin or full size bed. Upon completion, I noticed that the block and quilt formed an "H", hence the name "Hapi Quilt."

Quilt of Valor

This was an 'emergency' quilt of valor. Our group of 4 ladies who work on quilts of valor heard of a veteran who is in very failing health, so we put this one together in record time using one of Jenny's tutorials and my fabric stash. I didn't get a picture after it was bound, we needed to ship it out quickly.

Dr Nick’s Quilt

I wanted to make my nephew a quilt to celebrate his graduation from University after becoming a doctor. I chose the Native Sun fabric range for the squares on the front. I thought the teal and lavender would calm the bright fabrics a little so used them In the 4 patches. Nick is very interested In Indigenous health so this range seemed appropriate. He also loves bright colours and had a particular liking for butterflies as a child. I chose Kaffe Fassett orange with purple dots for the back and used the teal and lavender to tie the front and back together. As he is a doctor, I decided to use a fancy stitch on the binding that looked like the readout on a heart monitor. We are so proud of this you g man who lost his dad to cancer during his studies. Hope he realises how much he is loved and admired.
