American Honor Quilt of Valor

This quilt top was pieced to honor a former Air Force member, who also volunteered at our local Salvation Army office. She has a tattoo on her leg honoring fallen warriors, so when I saw this fabric panel, I had to apply for a quilt to be awarded to her in a ceremony. The wild colors with circles of text, remind me of the neon tennis shoes she wore as a volunteer, and the words, "Kind Heart, Fierce Mind, Brave Spirit" fit her to a tee.

Craftsy 2015 BOM with Jinny Beyer

Although there was a fabric kit for this quilt, I challenged myself to only use fabric already in my stash. I had to improvise in a few places, but it turned out so cuddly and bright! I added some vintage lace for my feminine daughter, who loves roses and rose scented lotion.

Don's Fall Quilt

My husband asked me to make him a fall quilt. He loves the changing of the seasons. I struggled with trying to find a pattern that he would like. I found the panel with the deer. Then I added some blocks in great fall colors. But the backing was the most awesome! He asked for reversible and wanted me to quilt two tops. That would have been very difficult to quilt. So I looked online at MSQC and found the fabulous Pumpkin Patch - Fall Patch green backing which I believe he loves more than all my hard work on the front. He was truly impressed with his Christmas present!

Seasons in a Row

This isn't an MSQC pattern but I did just finish it recently. Began this project in 2004 as one of 3 - one each for me, my son, and my daughter. Mine got put aside to finish theirs before they both moved overseas and didn't resurfaced until a couple of years ago. I got a couple more rows done and then we did some remodeling that moved my sewing room twice in one year. I retired in November and finally finished it. Such a fun playful quilt intended to be a comfort & somewhat of a memory quilt. Some of the fabrics incorporated are from my mother's stash, deconstructed garments, and leftover fabric of items I made for my kids/g'kids. Each of the 3 versions have some slight variations and the border colors were different for each. Added a Texas flag to the flag row and changed up the December row for both mine & my son's. Original row was all Santa faces. His was all tumbling block gift packages. When it came time to finish mine, I incorporated both Santa & the packages and also added the little Grandma/Grandpa stockings. So glad to finally have one UFO now completed! :)

Double Slice Spring Floral

Another Jenny tutorial was my inspiration for this quilt. I had a layer cake that I got as a Daily Deal a while ago and used it to follow Jenny's method. When the top was finished (super quick!) and the quilt sandwiched, I decided to free motion quilt it myself, a different stitching pattern in every patch. I used over 600 yds of thread and that many more in bobbin thread. I even learned to stitch my name in cursive. I loved making this quilt and I think I will keep it. Most of my quilts are gifts or charity quilts.
