PLACEMATS from a Book Panel. Another Stash Buster

I had bought 10 book panels. Instead of making books I made wall hangings. For Christmas, I was able to complete 5 sets of 3 Wall Hangings. All the sewing was done I just need to quilt the remaining 5 sets as they sit in my UFO box. I received a gift which was a pattern for placemats: INSIDE OUT MATS by Poor House Quilt Design. What do quilters do? I cut up my wall hangings to make a set of placemats. it was fun, quick, and easy. I am mailing them out tomorrow. Thanks for all of your support. Sending Blessings your way.

Dr Nick’s Quilt

I wanted to make my nephew a quilt to celebrate his graduation from University after becoming a doctor. I chose the Native Sun fabric range for the squares on the front. I thought the teal and lavender would calm the bright fabrics a little so used them In the 4 patches. Nick is very interested In Indigenous health so this range seemed appropriate. He also loves bright colours and had a particular liking for butterflies as a child. I chose Kaffe Fassett orange with purple dots for the back and used the teal and lavender to tie the front and back together. As he is a doctor, I decided to use a fancy stitch on the binding that looked like the readout on a heart monitor. We are so proud of this you g man who lost his dad to cancer during his studies. Hope he realises how much he is loved and admired.

Railroad

I picked up a book on strip tubing with junior a year ago. I wanted to make a batik quilt for a friend who lives in Florida. I decided on the Railroad design in the book. I used some batiks in my stash and bought some new ones too. I love batiks!!! I put a blue/purple flower batik on the back. It was quilted by our local long arm quilter. I love how it came out and hope she will love it too. It was fun to do.

Santa Sampler

I made this Santa Sampler in a BOM sewalong with my sister to encourage her to have a Christmas quilt along with me. It features a lot of common 15” blocks such as the Friendship Star and Pinwheel. I primarily used stash FQs and yardage depicting vintage style Santa Claus in red & green. It is approximately 86” X 104”. I was machine pieced by me and quilted in a kelly green thread by Missouri Star Quilt Co., and I finished with the binding.
