J Is for Jennifer J Is for Jeep

My nearly-50-year-old daughter has a Jeep Wrangler she loves. She bought it new and is about 1/2 her age. She loves that Jeep! When I saw the J Is for Jeep fabric by Penny Rose, I knew I had too make her a Wrangler quilt. The pattern is Field Full of Dreams by Pleasant Valley Creations. The owner/designer is a friend and she was also my first quilt teacher in 1993. In addition to the Jeep fabric and coordinating batiks, I included fabric by Jinny Beyer (sashing and border) because her fabric is probably the No. 1 reason I started quilting and exclusive Washington D.C. area batiks by her were pieced into the back because my daughter grew up in Northern Virginia and has fond memories of the many, many hours spent touring the Nation's Capitol. The title has been quilted into the bottom border several times. It was my 2017 Christmas gift to my wonderful daughter, Jennifer.

Grace

I had a huge stash of charm packs and when I saw Jenny's tutorial on the easy sashed tumbler quilt I knew it would be the perfect quilt for our granddaughter Grace. And...I already had the tumbler template ruler! Score! As a funny side story on this quilt...Grace loved, underscore loved, pink and I had purchased this awesome pink flannel backing for this quilt. Then we took her on a trip to Yellowstone and in conversation she says "oh, by the way, Grandma, I have decided I hate pink". Ugh... So I had some purples in my stash and with a little combination that is what her backing is made from. Little pill.

Prairie Flower Quilt

I started this quilt about 2 years ago when Jenny first put up the video. Then it got delayed several times for some health related issues. Finally finished it this week! I used the 30's collection of fabric. I machine quilted it myself using quilt in the ditch and stencils!

Aubree's Goodnight Irene Quilt

We listened to Jenny Doan tell about giving away picnic baskets with a quilt inside for wedding gifts and gave me my "ah hah moment". I finished up this quilt to include for my niece's wedding with a note inside that said the secret to a happy marriage is having lots and lots of picnics.

Sunlight on the Coral Reef

I saw the Kaffee Fassett fabric jellyroll on sale as the daily deal from Missouri Star and just had to have it. I also ordered 2 charm packs of the same fabric but did not know what style of quilt I wanted to make. After much searching, I then designed this quilt using the strips pieced together and then cut on the diagonal. I wanted it to be a water themed quilt and the fabric reminded me of coral reefs so I placed the lighter green themed strips going diagonally through the quilt as though they were rays of sunshine, filtering through the water. I finally finished it this past February and gave it to my husband as a birthday gift. He loved it and we have it on our bed now, on those extra cold winter nights.

Tumbler quilt

I made this quilt as a fundraiser for a women's oncology support group, Camp Bravehearts from Albany NY. It raised $500 for the group. It was easy to make and was machine embroidered with leaves and flowers for some extra pazza.
