The area we lived in England was agricultural, but in the Middle Ages, rabbit warrens dotted the countryside. Rabbit is/was a great meal. Today, rabbits can be seen on base and in the surrounding communities as ancesters of the warrens that existed "back in the day". I am still learning how to free motion quilt but I think the quilt came together okay and some child will find comfort with it.

Tumbler and Jelly

I made a simple tumbler quilt, and then someone mentioned putting another quilt on as backing. What they neglected to tell me was not to use borders because the LAQ cannot see what's happening on the bottom of the quilt. Nevertheless, it's kind of cute.

#Turning Tadvick

My daughter-in-law and her mom asked me to make a quilt that everyone could sign at the Wedding Reception. So using photos on printable fabric, their wedding colors and lots of pre-cut five inch square- the top was completed for the Reception so that it could be easily signed with permanent fabric markers. After the Reception, a friend embroidered names and dates for the pictures then I backed with fleece, quilted and bound it up.

Aberdeen Terrier

This quilt will be sent to Linusproject. I love to sew and felt that I could recreate some great children's quilts for charity. Using the Linked Up quilt tutorial allowed the 5" squares to really show up and bordering them with white Jelly Roll kept me from cutting 2 1/2" strips. I hate cutting. I had a black Honey Bun for the framing and finished with a 5" border. I really enjoyed the process. The Charm Pack allows enough 5" squares to make two baby blankets. Now to make a sandwich and quilt it all together.

Bold and Beautiful, plus Two

Here'S another quilt made from the Michele D'Amore fabrics. Love this color Way! I used my mitered piano key border on this one. I love doing piano key borders mitered rather than just butted up against each other. I do the mitered first instead of last, doing all 4 corners first, then filling in the middle of each side with additional piano key strips. If I need to make the strips a bit narrower or wider to fit, you notice it much less in the middle rather than at the corners. My friend quilted this as a practice quilt while learning to use my longarm. She quilted her beautiful 365 day challenge quilt ( in last picture) on my longarm after just a little bit of practice!

I have a very special brother and I wanted to create a very special quilt for his birthday this year. He is a cowboy at heart and used to ride horses for his job with the police dept. He is quite the two-stepper and used to dance a lot when he was younger. I collected numerous FQs last year keeping in mind his quilt. I decided on the Falling Charms design and used a Texas charm pack, fat quarters, Kona solids, and Aurifil thread. I FMQ it on my home domestic machine. His birthday was in February. He loved it!!

Friendship Quilt

We go to a local restaurant for dinner every week. It's a family owned and run business and the servers are all friends, some have been friends since Kindergarten. One of the young ladies was leaving her home town in South Carolina and moving to Alaska where her fiancée was stationed. Because she was missing her friends so much, I gave them all 5x5 white squares with freezer paper backing and quilting pens and they wrote notes to her that I combined with a few charm packs and made her a quilt. It was the largest quilt that I had made and I wasn't sure if it would come out right but she loved it. Now she'll always have notes from her friends wrapped around her on cold Alaska nights.

Summer Cottage

I love the pastel colours of this quilt and it reminds me of an heirloom quilt found in an old summer cottage. I can't remember the fabric line name but some of the fabric has the words of Canada's national anthem and also a picture of Canada's flag.
