    This is a traditional X&O block that I sashed to make it look a little bit like butterflies. This quilt is for a friend’s daughter. I used a Moda layer cake, and a batik for the background fabric. I quilted it myself using free motion quilting on my Juki 2200 QVP mini. The fabric line is Moda’s “Wild Nectar”. It’s a twin size and I had a few blocks left over to make a matching pillow sham.

    I have a good friend in Florida who is a very talented painter and she painted me a beautiful picture of my 5 bible study lady friends looking out to the ocean with sundresses on swinging in the breeze. I used to live in Florida but now back here to my roots in Ma. I said to myself I would make her a quilt for he 70th birthday which was in June. I decided on a MSQ Stardust pattern and picked her favorite colors that would melt in with her beautiful patio home. I even had it quilted by MSQ. She was so excited when she opened up the box.

    I purchased this fabric on my retreat trip to MSQC a year ago. My work assistant who loves cats was crazy about this pattern. And since I left her alone for 5 days I felt it was only right to make it for her. The pattern is Pins and Paws MSQC. It was really fun to make and I loved the bright colors. My quilters mark is a button which was a mouse of course. Kat lived it too.

    This quilt was made with Tula Pink layer cake which I purchased at a guild meeting. The colours were a bit wild for me, but I wanted to challenge myself out of my comfort zone of colours. I called it Chippy for our backyard visiting chipmunk. It was one of the first quilts that I finished on my Sweet 16, and I used rulers and FMQ. Tula Pink is coming to Ottawa in March 2018 and I plan to bring it, and hopefully get a chance to ask her to sign it.
