Take Five

I picked up a bundle of fabric at a local quilt show because I loved the colors and the veggie fabric. Then, I went looking for a pattern! LOL!! I fell in love with the Take Five pattern and it worked perfectly for this project. I'm not a very experienced quilter but I did machine quilting on my home sewing machine and was pleased with how it turned out. Next time, though, I will use a longer stitch length on the border quilting.

Quilts of Valor

A group of my stitching/quilting friends made twin sized quilts for a group of service members last year. The quilting group was spearheaded by the mother of one of the service members, her twin sister and her sisters twin daughters (my friends). We all made Quilt tops or donated money for supplies etc.. My one friend did the longarm quilting and binding of all the quilts. I was honored to be part of this group as a very novice quilter. We all received pictures, thank you cards and a certificate from the service members who received our gifts...we're ever so greatful for their service!

Summer Shop Hop Quilt

A couple of years ago, 4 of our not so local quilt shops had a shop hop and at each store, there was a pattern. The last store had the completion kit for sale. I bought all the patterns and put them in a project box and forgot about them. Last summer a friend asked me to go away with her on a "personal" quilting retreat...just the two of us. Five days of quilting in a luxury resort. How could I say no? The result was I finally put all the pieces of this quilt together. It is not yet sandwiched or quilted (and that's another story), but it will be soon.

Table topper

A friend was travelling Australia and found a Cupcake of fabric in a crafty shop somewhere outback. I wasn't sure what to make, but soon thought about a table topper in Disappearing Nine Patch. It was quick and easy. This was the first time I used the backing as the binding by bringing it around and folding.
