This is the first of 2 TP Butterfly Quilts I pieced in 2017; this one was gifted to my daughter Shauna to celebrate her 40th birthday on 12/24/17. I told her it was a gift of blood, sweat & tear but mostly tears of love .. she has always been my “butterfly girl”. It was pieced by me and quilted by Missouri Star Quilt Co. quilting services and I added the binding.

Cheerful

I made this quilt for my granddaughter's 3rd birthday. It is a twin size quilt for when she migrates to her "big" bed. She LOVES foxes and purple. I fussy cut fox pieces for the front around put bright colors around each. The pattern is called "Cheerful". The back is the fox cotton fabric. Fox Woods - Lil' Foxy Fabric - Navy by Michael Miller.

Pieced Cat Tunnel

Made this recently for my grand-kitty, Bear. The pattern is called "Cat Napper," by Sallie Tomato. I used my own block pattern, rather than the patchwork version included in the pattern, using scraps of bright cat fabrics which Bear's owner (my daughter) and I collected over the years. Bear is a BIG cat, and you can see in the picture that he loves his tunnel.

COLORADO HERE I COME

I saw the tutorial for the Colorado quilt & my eye went right to the 4 patch unit. I had 12 FQ's that I got 2-10" sq and 4 - 5" sqs from. I did 8 - 1/2 ST Jenny's way and the remaining normally. Instead of sewing the block together like Jenny I did a double 4 patch which made for much less confusion. I could make a mess of the smaller 4 patches any old time. I sure did not sew the block like Jenny did - sorry Jenny I think my way was easier for me.

Vignette Flowers in Bottles quilt

My grand daughter explained to me with her body language of excitement as she opened her hands widely and held a brimming smile :"I want a quilt with LOTS of COLOR." I had a real challenge and starting hunting everywhere for a colorful pattern and fabric. I settled on a quilt by a designer that I found on the Michael Miller website. The fabric is now discontinued. It was called Vignette.

Dad's Quilt

My father paints and he really loves color and he is very persnickity about something being truly beautiful or not. I went to my local fabric shop TN Quilts in Jonesborough, TN and I had in mind to make him a circle quilt but needed about 42 different fat quarters in all different colors. I chose batiks and they have several fat quarter bins to choose from. He loved his quilt and said it looked like silks to him. He did not know about batiks so I had to explain them.

Z Block Quilt

I started this Nancy Zieman Block of the Month quilt in January 2017. I looked forward to her new block each month and was shocked and saddened by her death in November. Her instructions and ideas on how to use each block in other ways has left me with lots of future quilt ideas. So I thank her for all that she has left for us in the quilting world and will cherish this quilt forever.

Northern Friends

This is a quilt for my grand-daughter. I purchased the panels and fabrics from several shops, but all from the same line. It inspired me to try out some FMQ swirls and echoing. I love how it turned out.
