Jane's Ladder King-sized quilt/shams

I wanted to make a new king-sized quilt for our Master bedroom but after making the last king-size, I wanted something without borders...Let's face it -- that is a lot of fabric to handle. I've used this pattern from Moda Bake Shop https://www.modabakeshop.com/2018/03/janes-ladder-quilt.html and it is fairly easy. Quilt finished at 120 x 120 and truth be told is a bit too big. It sat there finished and back from MSQC long arm services for four months. The thought of binding it was daunting. I finally bit the bullet and finished it yesterday, just in time for Autumn. The other king-size quilt was shabby chic fabric and a bit too girly for my husband. LOL I still have a few more throw pillow covers to finish up, but glad to have it on the bed. Edited to add a picture of the quilt flat on the bed.

Dark blue nine patch and hourglass

Update: I just finished hand binding this quilt. My friend quilted swirls with her longarm. I used scraps that a guild member brought to the free table for the scrappy border. She cleaned out her stash. I made this quilt in blues, purples, and greens. Blue is my favorite color. This one is going on my bed. This is the fourth nine patch and hourglass quilt that I made. I gave the other three away as gifts. I love this pattern. 100" x 106"

Irish Friendship Star

This quilt is for my son's grandparent in-laws. Nana and Nandy and I share great/ grandchildren duties and home school duties. So last Christmas when all of their family was home, I told them I really wanted to make Nana and Nandy a quilt for Christmas, and would they like to go in together on it. They thought it was a wonderful idea. I finished up the quilt in March and I've been waiting for my injured wrist to heal enough for me to handle the binding. The ladies at Palm Tree Long-arm Quilting have done a wonderful job with the quilting. I modified the Garden Star pattern by putting a four patch in the center of the large friendship stars to complete the Irish Chain.

Tennessee Waltz

I made this quilt for my sister for Christmas 2017. The pattern is called Tennessee Waltz and she is 110” square. There are a total of 81 blocks that are 9” finished and 6 borders, including a pieced border. The best part is that she is made entirely from scraps! I didn’t buy a single cut of fabric to make this quilt (except for the backing). I had a ton of scraps in my stash and lots of partial precuts that I had no idea what to do with. Then, lightbulb! This beauty was born.

Tumbler quilt

I made this quilt as a fundraiser for a women's oncology support group, Camp Bravehearts from Albany NY. It raised $500 for the group. It was easy to make and was machine embroidered with leaves and flowers for some extra pazza.

Disappearing Four Patch Star

Ever since completing other projects with the cut up piecework, I was looking for another variation. When Jennie Doan recently gave a summer workshop using her original Disappearing Four Patch pattern from Block Magazine and added star points, it piqued my interest. The oversized blocks eliminated the need for sashing strips. I decided to use a teal tonal print for the star. The possibilities for other block color combinations seemed endless. The participants in the workshop all had beautiful blocks to share. It was hard to decide which I liked best. I free motioned a floral design between the units and assorted straight line quilting in the borders on my domestic sewing machine. The quilt soon made it's way to a new home.

Spools

I used a traditional spool block to showcase various sewing-themed novelty fabrics. I meant for the quilting to resemble strands of looped thread but it ended up looking more like stipple get. I didon't my stitching too close and small. All done by hand.

Wonky Stars

I made this quilt using the Wonky Star and disappearing nine patch for my daughter. She moved to Texas and got a king size bed so the queen I made her a few years ago wasn't gonna work. She wanted purples and grays. I used Pocket full of daisies charm pack, touch of gray charm pack, prints charming charm pack and skipping stones charm pack. the boarders are needles and pins-lady daisies plum and touch of gray-floral smoke. I am in Penn. and have to get back to Florida so I can quilt it on my HQ Avanti

Good Night Howard

I fell in love with the Good Night Irene pattern when Jenny did the tutorial. It was a matter of time before I tried my hand at it. I'd teased my youngest son that it was going to be his wedding quilt (he doesn't have a job, or a gf yet). Then once it was laid out, Howard fell in love with it. That was the end of somebody's wedding present.

Stained Glass Beauty

My first quilting retreat at Needle in a Haystack - learned how to make this quilt. Of course I never follow anything 'exactly' so I tweaked it to make it my own. This was a bit tricky and I said a few bad words during the making of my quilt so I was afraid it had bad Karma (just joking) but I am very pleased with the outcome. The teacher was Joan Ford from Syracuse NY and we all had a lot of fun at the retreat. For the back of my quilt I used Tree of Life panel surrounded by borders which turned out very nicely. My only dismay was that my grandkids liked the BACK of the quilt better than the hard work on the FRONT!
