    I made this quilt as a birthday gift for my son’s girlfriend. She loves the color blue and is a little bit more contemporary than traditional in style. I purchased the 10” squares, called Dutchess Metallic, and other yardage from that collection from the MSQC. The fabric is truly gorgeous with a subtle hint of metallic. I also used a butterfly print from the same collection for the entire backing. Very pleased how it turned out. Hope she loves it!

    My nephew, a veteran, asked me to make a quilt for the Fisher House Foundation auction. I’ve never made a quilt for anyone other than friends and family. The quilt took over a year because “life” happened many times during the year. I had a deadline hanging over my head and I just could not make the deadline. I began to dislike the quilt but when I missed the deadline, the best thing that could have happened, I slowly began to work on the quilt and began to enjoy it again. The quilt is ready for the Fisher House Foundation’s 2018 auction, I am so happy I can donate the quilt for this great foundation.

    I work and volunteer at our local Salvation Army Corps office, and the kitchen manager served in the military. I applied for a Quilt of Valor for him, but it was determined since he wasn't in combat or an actual conflict, he did not qualify. I made a personal quilt for him to thank him for his service in Germany, and presented before he is to have shoulder surgery this month. With the temperatures in the teens, it will be a warm recovery tool for him.

    It is November 1st, I am behind on my Homemade Christmas Gifts. The first person on my list is my sons' boss. ( I have made a gift for her from him since 2012. ) This year I wanted to make her a table topper and placemats that can be used on a daily basis. I got this idea from a Youtube video where you can take a table runner kit and convert it into a table topper or placemats. I was able to finish this project in a weekend.
