We bought a little table to place behind the sofa. I know a console table is the norm, but with guests we really needed a table that could open up and seat 6 or so. The wood is so light, it kind of looks out of place, so I made a table runner for it.

Field Full of Dreams quilt - twice

I wanted to make a quilt as a gift for my sister (in colors she likes). The quilt came back from a longarmer with problems so it was not gift-able. Options were to pull the quilting/stitches and re-quilt it or to remake the quilt again. Since it is a gift I made the quilt again, and found a different person to do the quilting. It all turned out well in the end because now I know a talented local longarmer who was just terrific during this process. This second quilt (pictured here) turned out wonderful. I am so grateful to the longarmer SandraLynn (won't list full name for her privacy). It is a queen size (large queen). Made with Moda Black Tie Fabric 5" charms using the Field Full of Dreams pattern by Pleasant Valley Creations. The first not gift-able quilt is on our guest bed for now. This second one (pictured) will be gifted to my sister.

Dr Nick’s Quilt

I wanted to make my nephew a quilt to celebrate his graduation from University after becoming a doctor. I chose the Native Sun fabric range for the squares on the front. I thought the teal and lavender would calm the bright fabrics a little so used them In the 4 patches. Nick is very interested In Indigenous health so this range seemed appropriate. He also loves bright colours and had a particular liking for butterflies as a child. I chose Kaffe Fassett orange with purple dots for the back and used the teal and lavender to tie the front and back together. As he is a doctor, I decided to use a fancy stitch on the binding that looked like the readout on a heart monitor. We are so proud of this you g man who lost his dad to cancer during his studies. Hope he realises how much he is loved and admired.

A SQUARE DEAL - QUILT AS YOU GO - BACK

My choice for the back of my quilts is to make another pattern. My theme for the back is to make one gigantic block. In doing my research, I couldn't find a block that would fit a 5 X 7. I just couldn't get it to balance. I had to change my thinking. I went through one of my scrap books and came across this pattern a square deal. it was simple and wouldn't take a lot of time. When i went through my stash I had bought and great deal 2 charm packages with 150 pieces each. To make this quilt I would need 160 - 4 x 40. The back turned out as beautiful as the front. I am having a lot of fun sewing, creating, and sharing. Thanks again for listening. God Bless.

Mormor's Baby Quilt

Quilt no. 21! I usually don't make baby quilts unless I am planning to gift it to a friend, but finding my Mormor charm pack from Lotta Jansdotter in my stash, I got inspired to make a small star quilt. I used the Moda Love Charms pattern, which can be adopted for layer cakes and mini charms as well. Love the scalloped quilting and scandinavian feel.
