Baby Grand

Saw this idea on Pinterest, to make a baby grand piano out of log cabin blocks. I realized that the blocks were the curved log cabin blocks in Jenny's tutorial. I work with theatre groups who do musicals. We had one very talented pianist that did the music for 3 plays. I wanted to make this for her! Love how it turned out! In making the keys, I did one of the three using raw edge appliqué. I was afraid this wouldn't hold up to washing, so I pieced the other two. It was more work, not as straight, but I think it will hold up better.

My daughter was in college and the rooms were very chilly. I made her this lap quilt to keep her warm while she studied. She was a business music student. I used my embroidery machine and made appliqués I'd musical instruments, she has graduated and still uses her quilt in the cool months.

Nautical News is a custom quilt set using Seaworthy fabrics. I couldn't find a pattern or tutorial for the size of quilt blocks I was after, so I wrote the pattern for layer cake squares. The pattern includes 6 sizes from baby to king and is layer cake friendly.
