    My first quilt! I made this as part of an online quilt-a-long. It is machine pieced and machine and hand quilted. I hand quilted around each chicken and then quilted a wing in each one.

    When Isabel was born in 2006 I was going through some health and work related issues, so I did not get to start the quilt right away. I eventually started a quilt that I bought in a kit with minimal instructions. It was in 2.5 inch strips with wild and funky colors that I thought she would enjoy. Well, I really messed up that pattern and would put it down and pick it up trying to fix the mess I had made. Then I finally realized that it was too wonky and as a matter of fact, way too small now that she was 8 years old! So, I started over with a modified coin quilt as you go that I made from fat quarters. The quilting world had changed so much while I wasn't looking and I really liked the pre-cuts, the colors and the freedom to create a one of a kind quilt with a design on the back as well as the front. I finally finished it this week and will mail it to her for her 9th birthday, as soon as I make a doll quilt for her from some parts of the original wonky quilt. I have made quilts for my daughter, two grandsons and now my great granddaughter and feel very blessed to be able to share my work with you.

    I used to be a florist, so anything that reminds me of flowers is a good thing. I loved these appliqué roses. The black sets them off nicely. I gave this quilt to my niece for her graduation this past June. Her name is Rose!

    Just finished this little baby quilt for the Bakersfield isolete program where they give quilts to the parents of infants in incubators. I saw this pattern in a baby quilt book and it made me smile. The pig ears are not sewn down. Hope the parents who get it like it too.

    I did a set of Old World Santa's from other countries that was commissioned from a lady from Texas, that went to a tour of europe, Scotland, England, Ireland, Russia, Italy, and France with her best friend. She wanted to give it to her best friend for Christmas. I went to thrift stores and garage sales to buy old formals of velvet, brocades, satin, metallic fabrics and others.

    The Engleson's (friends of ours) were having number 4 baby and it was a boy. I had made 3 others for all the kids, Faith, Gabriel and Eli and Jonathan was coming soon. So I put my thinking hat on and came up with bunnies playing around. I used white minkie for the bunnies and used color pastels for borders and sashing. It was a hit! And yes Jonathan came into this world on the day before easter.

    My step-mother collects elephants, so I made her this wallhanging of an elephant. I am taking it to Arkansas in September and hope she likes it. I can't remember the name of the pattern, but I reduced it to about half the size of the original and used my own fabrics in her favorite colors.
