Quartered Squares

A friend who works in a quilt shop showed me a photo of a quilt she had just completed. IT was the Quartered Squares quilt using one of Jenny Doans tutorials. I thought it had a "wow" factor and immediately bought a yard and a quarter of a red stripe. I love red and yellow combinations, so I added two borders, one red and the other yellow and then bound it with red. I decided I wanted to hang it in my kitchen and had the vegetable fabric in my stash so that was the backing. It was so much fun to make and came out so cool that I have already made a second one in another color way with a different stripe.

Summer Table Runner

I've quilted different table runners over the past few years. When a holiday or change of season comes along I look for my table runner I know I made and can't find it. Then I'll remember I gave them to my daughter-in-laws. Now I've been told they have one for every holiday and each season but none for Summer. So today I made this Zig Zag Table Runner following Jenny's tutorial even though I have made several. You never know if you might forget a step so nice to have Jennifer by my side. I used a variety of leftover 5" squares or part from a charm pack. After laying it out it didn't seem right and I realized it was too busy. So I edited myself and went with solid white down center and I think it brought the entire summer theme together. I think my DILs will love this table runner.

Dachshunds Gone Wrong

This is an example of what 60 degree triangles can do to a repeat figure stripe. I loved this wonderful striped fabric by M'Liss, and was determined to make a table runner out of it. However, I had trouble with my fussy cuts. I had to keep this runner because of "the problem." I plan on putting it on my table this holiday season and then I'll wait for the grandkids to comment. Can you spy what's wrong with this picture?

Chez Moi Calypso Placemats and Runner

Charm squares from Chez Moi. Chez moi charms "Table Charm" by Whistlepig Creek Productions 1 runner, and 4 placemats 3-22-14: One placemat quilted, in the ditch with green shaded thread. 3-31-14: All quilted, including runner. Added 1/4 inch topstitch for center panel and sides. 4-5-14: Got to get a yard of green for binding. Bought a soft blue instead. 6-7-14: Hand sewing the binding down on first placemat. Done. 6-13-14: Friday the 13th full moon. Finished runner and another placemat. Made rainbow jello. 8-18-17: Finished sewing binding on last 2 placemats. All done.

Halloween Monster Bash Table Runner

I did a throw size Halloween quilt using Jenny's zipper quilt tutorial, and thought a table runner would be a good way to use up the leftover fabric. I machine quilted it myself, I've been trying to practice on smaller projects to work my way up to quilting some larger quilts.

Halloween Table Runner

I bought this fabric over a year ago at a local quilt shop and finally put it together at a retreat last week. The runner is a nice size, 18" x 56". I know the 'eyeball' fabric for the binding is Riley Blake, not sure about the rest. I haven't done much machine quilting, mostly straight lines, but with this, I experimented with some curves lines for the spider webs.
