True Blue

I chose this pattern because the title of it embodies my husband; unwavering loyalty to his family and country. It was a birthday gift for him. Since I wanted it to be a surprise, pieced it while he was at work and I set weekly and monthly goals for myself. I worked on it as soon has he left for work in the morning and put it all back in the box before he came home for lunch. After lunch, I repeated the process, working on it until it was time for him to come home after his work day ended. The pattern is by Carrie L. Nelson in her book titled Miss Rosie's Spice of Life Quilts. The placement of light and dark fabrics give the appearance of movement in the quilt.

Do Bears Play in the Woods?, an appreciation quilt

When my husband had a heart attack over 300 miles from home while in Bryan, OH, he was fortunate enough to be at a lovely campground called Hickory Acres. When he was released from the hospital the doctor didn't want him to leave for home for at least 4-5 days. The onsite grounds keeper befriended us and lent us his personal John Deere Gator to use for the next several days. It was such a generous gesture from a complete stranger. Thank Dave Lincoln.

There Will Be No More Talk About Yo-yos

About three years ago my Guild's President's Challenge was to create a quilt with a rainbow hiding in plain sight. The yo-yo circles were stitched, by machine, to the quilt sandwich BEFORE they were drawn up into yo-yos. This created the actual quilting that looks like bubbles on the quilt back.. On the back I also added a few miscellaneous circles as if they were being pulled through the quilt sandwich to become more yo-yos. The quilt was the only double award winner, taking Viewer's Choice & Best Contemporary Interpretation of a Traditional Design. As an added nod, it was selected to be included as one of the quilts pictured in a set of note cards published by the Guild this past year.

Love for Luna

I watched the Crafty Gemini Creates tutorial on paper piecing hearts and wanted to make a mini quilt for our new bedroom in our new house. I used Bonnie and Camille "Hello Darling" fat quarters I had bought from my LQS and quilted it in the ditch. After I made it, my husband was looking at it and his cat Luna came over and started loving on it. She is the sweetest cat who just wants to be held and loved all day long. Both my husband and I knew it was meant for her. She now has a little blankie to help keep her warm.

Sew Fun

I'm doing a Mini Quilt of the Month thru Intrepid Thread and this was the first one we did. They sent all the fabric and I used a stripe I had in my stash to bind it. This is so cool- I love it- and it hangs up in my quilting space.

Mini Swoon

A dear friend in England was so sweet and nice to me; right before Christmas, she sent a package of out-of-print Bonnie & Camille fabrics to me! I am a new quilter and don't have a lot of fabric, so she sent some of Marmalade, Scrumptious, and Vintage Modern! I was so touched by her thoughtfulness and kindness that I made this small Swoon block mini quilt to say thank you.

Helen's 60th birthday quilt

I made a Quatrefoil quilt and made a few extra blocks. I used 4 for corners and cut up the remaining fabrics in 4 1/2" squares, supplemented with fabrics from my stash, and made disappearing 9 patch for centre of quilt. it will be for my friend Helen 60th birthday in June.
