Coffee House

This quilt was a work of love for my oldest thirty something grandson. He is a music minister at his church, website developer and musician. I have enjoyed his performances in a great local coffee shop and that was the inspiration for this quilt. I gathered coffee and music related fabrics for some time. Fat quarters and by the yard fabric were used and the plaid for the back was purchased on closeout and my grandson loved the back. Stone walls often like a coffee shop so the stone pattern fabric worked well. Free motion quilting in coffee cups, mugs, and music symbols completed the quilt. Grandson was delighted with the finished quilt.

My Curved Log Cabin Quilt

I went to a quilting retreat in GA. Had an absolute blast making this quilt there. I used the Maison Bleue Line by RJR for this quilt. Learned to make it by watching Jenny's tutorial.

Bright & Bold Carpenter's Star

I made my oldest daughter (in picture) a Carpenter's Star, oversized queen, for her birthday. She had long ago worn out the quilt I made her when she was a teenager and had been asking for another quilt for quite some time. I decided to use bright, bold, happy fabrics rather than more traditional ones.

Oriental Lanterns

It was a simple pattern. Used wonderful asian fabric. It reminds of the years we lived in the south sea and the orient. It was a great time of piecing it. I used some of my mom's mu mu's and cut them in to blocks. So now I have visual memories of Mom.

Mary's Quilt

I've been making quilts for about a year and a half. I started out making specifically charity quilts, but my love of quilting grew and grew. I talk constantly to my daughter about the quilts I've made and she told me one day that she wanted a quilt, too. So, I asked her to choose her fabric. She's a Downton Abbey fan, and she chose the Dowager Princess line by Kathy Hall for Andover Fabrics. I chose a trusted favorite pattern, Turning 20, but that wouldn't fit her Queen-size bed. So, I turned 20 into 30 and made it just the right size. I made coordinating throw pillows and pillow cases (using Jenny's tutorial). I had such a great time making it. When I got it back from my longarmer, I couldn't believe how heavy it was!! I was pleased, but my daughter was more so, and that is worth more than anything!!

The Old World Santa's Quilt

Christmas is always a time of memories for us. We twined my wifes traditional (British) and our are (Italian). I fell on an a applique pattern of Old World Santas for machine Embroidery. So I adapted them to what them I was doing. We went to the thrift shops and bought several formals that had velvet, satin, organza etc. I had enough fabric to do 37 blocks 12X12. I really like the International Set that I did. Hop you like them.
