A group of my stitching/quilting friends made twin sized quilts for a group of service members last year. The quilting group was spearheaded by the mother of one of the service members, her twin sister and her sisters twin daughters (my friends). We all made Quilt tops or donated money for supplies etc.. My one friend did the longarm quilting and binding of all the quilts. I was honored to be part of this group as a very novice quilter. We all received pictures, thank you cards and a certificate from the service members who received our gifts...we're ever so greatful for their service!

Buffalo Flower Quilt

I go to a monthly quilters group that makes kids quilts to donate. The coordinator is a former Quilt shop owner and so as I am rather new at quilting I have learned many new tricks and short cuts. We were told to bring colorful fabrics and not be concerned that they matched. This is a applique quilt my first in fact. I have done small wall hangers though. This is the end result; but must say it was labor intense.

Elijah's Graduation Quilt

For my nephew's high school graduation. Inspiration was a block that looked like an S. Fabrics: solids are Peppered Cottons jelly roll by Studio E fabrics with lots of fat quarters representing my nephew's interests and fun times spent with him. Backed with fleece and quilted on my mom's 1956 Singer that I learned to sew on.

Texas Two-Step

I have a very special brother and I wanted to create a very special quilt for his birthday this year. He is a cowboy at heart and used to ride horses for his job with the police dept. He is quite the two-stepper and used to dance a lot when he was younger. I collected numerous FQs last year keeping in mind his quilt. I decided on the Falling Charms design and used a Texas charm pack, fat quarters, Kona solids, and Aurifil thread. I FMQ it on my home domestic machine. His birthday was in February. He loved it!!

Birthday on the Green

I made this quilt for my father for his birthday in January of this year. He has several hobbies and interests but golf is a long time passion for him. I used On the Green by Bristol Bay Studios for Benartex, Kona snow, Aurifil thread, 100% cotton batting, and the bordered square pattern but used 10" squares instead of 5". I FMQ on my home machine and hand stitched the binding. After washing/drying it finished 70x80. It was a fun project and my dad really loves it.

The Blues!

I ove working with white and blue and device to make two "twin" quilts: they are made using exactly the same amount of HST and the same colours: I made HSTs and divided them into two identical piles and them sew them together using two different patterns. The result are two quilts with the same size, the same colours, the same backing and the same binding ... But two different quilts!! Very simple and very effective, I think! I have called them "Out of the Blue" and "Kind of Blue". Hope you like them.
