Topiary Tiles

This quilt was made as a wedding gift for my niece and her husband. Black/white/cream is a favorite color combination to use and I liked the more contemporary look for a young couple. I have used this pattern several times.

First "Real" Quilt

As a quilting newbie, I was a little overwhelmed at the prospect of making a "real" quilt - you know, with little fabric squares and ALL those colors playing so nicely together. After browsing through Jenny's tutorials, none of them captivated me as much as the disappearing 9-patch...it looked so complicated, but looked totally do-able! So I picked out fabrics in my favorite colors, and just did it!! Many points are less-than-perfect, and I really shouldn't have used solids, but it's a quilt, and I made it, and I'm very proud of it. I even wrestled the thing through my sewing machine to free-motion quilt a loopy flower pattern on it! Yes, not perfect, but not too bad for a first try!

Masculine Choir Drama Quilt

My son's high school choral director spent many hours providing voice lessons for my son. He also spends countless hours directing the two drama productions each year. A gift card or cash did not seem like a fitting thank you gift so I made him this lap quilt. The Director was so pleased and called it his heirloom.

Pinwheel on Point with Fence Rail Quilt top

When I saw this pattern on Jenny's MSQC tutorial, I knew that I had to make this. I fell in love with it and knew that I had to make this. It was so fun to watch this come together. I love the end result! I have gotten so many compliments on it already. This is one of my favorites already. This was made using Stonehenge Land of the Free strips from Northcott Fabrics.

Olivia Quilt

When our granddaughter was little, she loved Olivia. I found the panel of Olivia prints and had to do something with them. I had a type of print in mind to go between the blocks, and could not find what I wanted. Then I saw the print below and it jumped into my cart all by itself!

Tina's Good-bye Quilt

I am an Air Force wife and I've met lots of extraordinary people in our travels. Currently, we are stationed in Northern Japan. The Air Force has a program called the Key Spouse program. Basically, a few selected Active Duty spouses undergo training to provide support to spouses and families of deployed service members. When I was brought on, our squadron was receiving a new First Shirt and his wife was going to be running our Key Spouse program. She became a mentor to me and taught me how to take care of our families and about living a life of service. Well, her husband retired from the Air Force after 26 years and I offered to make Tina's gift from myself and the other Key Spouses. It took me a month to make and I put the last stitch in the binding at 1:30 a.m. the night before we were presenting it to her at their farewell dinner. She loves it so much and I was proud of myself for not crying. Even though I'm not the best machine quilter, I am proud of how it turned out.
