    I love batiks, the color purple & that gadget called the twister tool. The colors of the swirely remind me of tulips and the border fabric has snowflakes, which remind me that spring is always full of surprises.

    I used scraps and cut charm squares for this paper pieced version of the Periwinkle quilt, also known as Arkansas Star. Adding the sashing made quick work of assembling the blocks.

    A new quilt shop opened up near me and I saw a beautiful quilt hanging on the wall - I had to go in. When I learned it was the quilt for a class being offered - I signed up. I finished the quilt and donated it to our Combined Charities Campaign as a raffle item. We ended up with $600.00 going towards the charity!

    I love Kansas Troubles fabric and have MANY charm packs - all different. I also had Windham Fabrics Butter Pecan charm packs. After I saw the tutorial I decided to try it. This is very scrappy and old fashioned looking - which I like. This is also in the Block magazine.

    This was my 4th quilt top but the first I have actually quilted. I used a simple criss-cross stitch. The pattern was Pearl Pereria's Easy Nine Patch and I used Robert Kaufman's Fusion Sand and StudioE's Blessings II fabrics. I used DMC 50 wt thread in a neutral color.

    I taught at the first public Montessori School in NC for quite a while. I always loved the Sensorial work in the primary and the Geometry works that grew out of it in the Elementary. After I retired, I was blessed with two grandchildren. Esther's first quilt was this Minkie, applique quilt of the polygons and seven triangles of realty from my Montessori Geometry Cabinet.
