    My nephews wife was expecting and I was searching for a baby quilt to make. I loved the Chevron Quilt Jenny had made using 10" squares. Since I knew the baby's room would be grey and salmon, not your normal traditional colors, I just bought fabric and cut them into 5" squares and then in half for the chevron. After several attempts at mixing and matching I came up with this design pattern. I sent picture to my sister to make sure the colors would match. She replied with "why did you pick that pattern?" Oh boy...I just should have put it together...to my surprise she said "the entire room is in the chevron pattern. I was so surprised and knew this quilt was meant to be. I made my own label from my computer and iron on sheet. They both loved the quilt when they opened it at their Baby Shower and then sent me a picture of how it looked in the room.

    Found this patter online (I don't remember where) and thought I'd give it a try. It was suggested that I use a spray starch, but since I never needed it before, and I didn't have any, I proceeded as normal, without any. All was well until I had to cut the pieces diagonally. Talk about stretch!! I finally finished, with a lesson learned, If starch is suggested, go to the store and buy some!

    This baby quilt was designed for an expectant mother who decorated the nursery in grey and cream and light teal. She wanted something "modern." I used a charm pack Moda Road 15, with its cute little houses and trees and solid yardage to piece the top. The design of the top was inspired by Amy Smart's pattern, Chain LInked (http://amysmart.bigcartel.com/product/chain-link). The back features an applique based on the houses and trees in the Road 15 prints. I quilted this on my domestic machine with a continuous spiral design radiating from the red charm (because I felt it sort of "stood out" anyway).
