Amy’s Memory Quilt

A friend of mine lost her father in law and asked me to make a memory quilt for his wife;her mother in law. She gave me a pile of his clothes, all jeans and flannel shirts. She also gave me the shirt and dress each had worn at her wedding(used for the center heart). I used Tonga Treats Batiks Freedom minis to supplement them. He was a veteran so it was a perfect fit! I used Shadow Play yardage in natural for the boarders. Tonga Batiks Freedom blue stars for the backing. I asked my friend if he had a favorite flower as I love to add appliqué to my quilts whenever possible. He loved trillium. I created my own trillium appliqués. Of course the best part of any project is getting to see the recipient’s reaction. I was fortunate enough to have friend send me a video of her mother in law opening the quilt. Makes all the hard work worth it

Little Gentleman

I first saw this pattern on “10 Tips for Great Baby Quilts from Marianne Fons” on YouTube. The pattern was created by Mary Fons. She named it “Little Lady”. I fell in love with this modern, colorful and fun take on a baby quilt. One of my cousins asked me to make a version with more “boy” colors. Challenge accepted! So I found beautiful batiks in blues and greens which is what my cousin asked for. I used River Valley Batiks by Kathy Engle for Island Batik and yardage (Nordic Trees for the binding). I also used the drunkards path circle template to create the blocks. I have only been quilting for about a year and a half so this one was a little bit of a challenge, but I LOVE the way it came out. I’m a big Mary Fons fan!

I have always loved patriotic things. When I saw this charm pack I needed something to brighten my days this summer. Held my breath for the first washing, the red did not bleed. I was just going to do a white back but realized I had a lot of the 5 in squares

Batik charm quilt

I just finished quilting this colorful quilt that my neighbor's daughter pieced. When the school's closed from the virus, I asked my neighbor if her three children would like to piece quilts. She thought that they would, so I picked out some charm packs in their favorite colors. I thought this daughter would like colorful batiks. She did a wonderful job piecing these squares (her first quilt) She just turned 16. She picked this confetti quilting pattern and an awesome lizard fabric for the backing from my stash. This is the fifth quilt that I quilted on my longarm. 62" x 71"
