    This quilt is for my husband's cousin. He lost his son to cancer earlier this year. He's fought the battle with cancer 3 times in the last 4 years... all different kinds, nothing related to each other. Last week, he had to have his second gamma knife procedure. I went through my stash and found Indigo Stonehenge jelly roll and some left over red batik. I searched Donna Jordan's tutorials and used her Jelly Roll Log Cabin pattern. I love how it turned out. Mike is a Carolina fan. I'm a long time Duke fan. My oldest went to NC State. So all three schools are represented in this quilt for Mike M.

    Little did I know that one of my blocks is the maritime flag for storm warning! It's the red block with a dark center at lower left. This pattern was fun to make and the checked binding adds just the right degree of playfulness. Loop the Loop by Urban Elementz is the longarm design in variegated thread, which shows up well on the unbleached muslin backing.

    I'm helping my friend piece quilts for her longarm quilting business. A family wanted six memory quilts made out of their fathers/grandfathers shirts. The plaid fabric is a flannel shirt in this quilt. Shift happens, missed some points. My friend lets me use her longarm and will quilt for me in return. It's a win/win for both of us. :-)

The gift was a beautiful Persian Rug to take home with him. He thought of a wedding gift to give them when he returned. He requested flowers intertwined throughout wedding rings. I now need to free motion quilt feathers and fillers.

    I received a jellyroll for Chhristmas but it only had 30 strips. I used the pattern Train Tracks in the book Two for One Jellyroll where all the quilts use 20 strips. I was able to use the extra strips as borders and binding. Then gifted it back to my DIL for the grandkids.
