    There was a local newspaper article about an 11 year girl who was diagnosed with a rare encephalopathy about six months ago. I had this sweet girl panel I had acquired on a shop hop in Florida. I decided to cut up the panel and just make random blocks to put it together, no pattern. I gave it to her last week and she adored it. She has a 14 year old autistic brother and I also gave him the first quilt I made while taking a class at my local quilt shop. That's why I love quilting.

    I made this for my son who likes to go deer hunting. I used Jenny's tutorial for the attic window. I should have paid more attention before I started cutting and made the window panes longer but lesson learned. I liked the way it turned out otherwise. I used the same fabric recommended in the tutorial from MSQC. The backing is a dark brown that I picked up locally. The quilting is also in the window pane pattern. Hope he likes it.

    I love this collection "A Walk In The Woods". But only had one charm pack of the fabric. So I combined it with white a colored charm squares to creat the fabulous versatile disappearing 9 patch block. I love this block because it can be set many ways creating either a very random scrappy look or a more controlled look that creates a sashing look around the print blocks.

    I had dropped out of my guild due to having one person in it I could not work with. Immediately a friend talked me into joining the Quilts of Valor. Well my husband is retired Navy and his father did 26 year, my father and uncle were Navy so it was not hard to convince me. We deal mainly with scraps and some panels but once again I like to try to be unique.

    I started this 2 years ago and set the top aside. I finally got around to quilting it. It is from English Paper Piecing by Vicki Bellino. As soon as I saw this pattern, I fell in love with it and had to make it. It is suppose to be all hand sewn, but I'm not able to do that. So I adapted the pattern so I could piece it on the sewing machine and with no Y-seams. The only hand sewing is the appliques and the backside of the binding. It is made of Civil War fabric and machine quilted. I'm keeping this one for me. Thanks for looking. :)

    I did free motion quilting on the center portion of the quilt with mediocre results. I needed a stencil to mark the stitching lines along the outer blocks, and this quilt gave me the chance to learn a lot about making quilting stencils with my Silhouette machine. Trial and error taught me that I can make a reusable stencil out of freezer paper. I ironed it in place and then I used my pounce pad to mark the quilting lines. My daughter is a whiz at the Silhouette software, and all things computer related, so I hope that I can get her to make a YouTube video to show how to make the stencils.
