A friend asked if I'd make a quilt to take to her western riding club to action for a fund raiser. Since I only had a couple weeks I had use what was in my stash. I backed this with a soft light blue denim to appeal to either gender.

Bold and Beautiful, plus Two

Here'S another quilt made from the Michele D'Amore fabrics. Love this color Way! I used my mitered piano key border on this one. I love doing piano key borders mitered rather than just butted up against each other. I do the mitered first instead of last, doing all 4 corners first, then filling in the middle of each side with additional piano key strips. If I need to make the strips a bit narrower or wider to fit, you notice it much less in the middle rather than at the corners. My friend quilted this as a practice quilt while learning to use my longarm. She quilted her beautiful 365 day challenge quilt ( in last picture) on my longarm after just a little bit of practice!

Thank You Quilt

Our dear friends put us up on weekends for several months so we wouldn't have to drive that 90 minute commute twice on a weekend. Dianna is blind now but had her sight when she was younger. She understands, color, design and shapes. She is married to a wonderful man that has a artistic eye and describes everything to her in detail. they were both beyond joyful when they unwrapped it this past weekend. I made a pillow with some of the leftover fabrics. Dianna is fiercely independent. She cooks, cleans, and bakes does laundry, irons with only the slightest help when is comes to measuring. She is an amazing woman and we are blessed to have her and her husband as our friends. The fabric is Grey Skies by Faye Burgos from my stash which is a couple years old and the pattern is the curved log cabin and backed with minky. I used a flange binding to add some pop.

Oh Canada, Eh?

I wanted to make an Autumn inspired quilt using warm colours and settled on making a maple leaf quilt with colours of the Canadian Flag. I used toned-down reds and beiges, taupes and creams in place of the stark white often seen in the Canadian Flag, to give it a more heirloom look. I couldn't resist using "Eh?" in the title. It is a stereotype for us Canadians, but I really do say it a lot!

Scrappy Fun

I made three similar scrappy quilts as door prizes for my daughter's bridal shower. Such fun using 16-patch and x's and o's. They were well received as part of the fun for the day and helping our guests feather their nests as they showered gifts on the young couple.
