So my cousin is pregnant with her first child due next month. Her husband had recently suffered the loss of his father and stepmother in a hot air ballooning accident. I wanted to make something cheerful to help brighten her spirits. For a while I've been wanting to try hand quilting and thought this was the perfect project for it just to see if I liked hand quilting before diving into a big project. So I made this, it is the Double Slice Layer Cake pattern from Missouri Star Quilt Co. And I used half of one layer cake. The fabric is Vintage Picnic by Bonnie and Camille for Moda fabrics along with a bird panel fabric I got on clearance at my LQS. It is machine pieced and hand quilted, very proud of this project and I think I've been converted to being a "mostly" hand quilter!

Rebekah's Love Quilt

This quilt was made for my granddaughter Rebekah. She is a bundle of love. I used ZigZag Love pattern from Hope's Quilt Designs purchased from Craftsy. Using straight line stitching only on the zig zags. It was a lot of fun to make and she is just a pleasure. Her words, "It is so ME!"

Hand Up Stand Up 2016

I made a patriotic quilt to donate to the 2016 Hand Up Stand Up benefit ride for our local VA hospital in Topeka, KS. The money goes to a couple of areas including the PTSD ward. I am so blessed to have a husband involved in the ride and thought I would get involved also by providing a quilt to have auctioned off. My good friend quilted it for me as her donation to the cause.

Triple Irish Chain

I made this Triple Irish Chain quilt for my son's wedding. The centers include photos and memorabilia that have meaning to the bride/groom. Fabric used is Summer Breeze 3 (Moda) which just happened to be the exact colors that matched very well with their engagement photos. The outer borders were made from some floral fabric I had on hand since the Summer Breeze fabric had been discontinued. I enjoyed making this quilt and it was an easy quilt to put together.

Scrappy Hunter's Star

My first quilt

This is my first quilt. It would probably never happen if it wasn't for Jenny's awesome tutorials. I just sew together the layer cake precuts as I wanted to complete the quilt asap. It turned out a bit too small in my opinion so I added the border. And that was my first attempt at the mitered corners. All done on my home machine.
