New England Patroits

Although I'm a Kansas City Chiefs & Royals fan, I made this for one of my military friends who is a Patroits fan. We had a bet that which ever team lost when the Chiefs played the Patroits, the loser had to visit the winner. Chiefs lost and therefore I lost but I really won because I got to go to Maine for the first time, It was nice. I printed out logos found in google, then resized the images to larger than poster size. Printed and taped the pages together to get final logos. Appliqued and added pinwheels to top and bottom.

Penny Rugs

The name from the Civil War era when ladies would use up scraps of wool, cut them in penny-sized circles and make decorative things for the home. I make them while I'm sitting and chatting with the ladies at Needlecrafters. Much easier than lugging around my sewing machine.

Fold and Stitch Leaf Wreath

I did take a class to make the Fold and Stitch Wreath and watch tutorials on You Tube. When I saw the picture of this Leaf Wreath I had to take a chance and try to make it. I didn't want to buy the pattern so I googled a Leaf pattern. Made my green strip set (( from stash )). Cut out the Leaf Patterns from backing, batting, fusible pellon, and strip set. Sewed them all together. Would I make another? Definitely. Simple, cute, and These will make great gifts.

African Ten Commandments

I made this quilt before, but with Western fabric and Cowboy lingo, This time it it is African fabric (I found a site that sells authentic African fabric in a jelly roll!) and the language is Chichewa, which is the language spoken in Malawi. It's a gift. My church has a mission team that visits with Abundant Life Center in Malawi ever year. The verses were embroidered on my embroidery machine.

A PURSE MADE FROM A STICKS & STONES BLOCK

I love the fabric from this layer cake until I sewed it all together. UGH - that was not what I wanted for my couch pillows. I was in the mood to make some birthday gifts and decided to do some stash busting at the same time. Browsing on Pinterest I saw this purse made from a quilt block I had to try and make it. I took this Sticks & Stones Block that I had discarded as UFO and made this purse. I love it. In my excitement of creating I forgot to put pockets inside the purse but it is still so cute, I think that I can get away with it since it is my first and I made it from a picture and not a pattern.

Stash Busting, Cell Phone Purse or Sunglass Holder

I bought a Magazine on making Mini Quilts. In the back of the book was a pattern to make A Cell Phone Purse. It was a little harder. { The pattern had you take a 4 inch square and sew in onto a 2 1/2 inch square. They were beautiful but time consuming. I made about 6 of these but gave them all away before I took any pictures. ) I still like the idea, therefore, I found a faster and easier design. I just made them from mini charm packs. I had a lot of fun making these and would definitely make more.

This Little Piggy...

Made this for "Pig Mania" challenge at our local quilt show. REALLY fun to make. My kids love this rhyme and we have so much fun with it. The liked watching the quilt come together. Imagine it will be a fun heirloom for their kids someday.
