Rag Quilt - Baby Size

My friend, Myra, became a grandmother, again. To celebrate the occasion I wanted to share in her joy with a baby quilt. I bought the fabric, Noah's Ark Flannel Charm packs and Minkee Blankee Lights Charm Pack by Benartex. Picking a pattern is one of the hardest parts. Researched all my books, patterns & pinterest. Then one day it hit me - Rag Quilt. Simple, Easy, and Babylicious. I was surprised how fast it went together. In one day I had sewed the squares together, then the rows. but, it was just too small. Therefore, I decided to add borders. ( I had to go back to my stash I didn't have a lot of choices for flannel and minkee for a boy. ) Luckily it all worked out. I'll be mailing it out on Monday. Celebrating the circle of life with every new born baby.

Rainbow Baby Quilt

This baby quilt began as gender neutral, but as I was packing up the quilt top to be mailed out to be machine quilted we found out the baby is a girl. So, I used an orange, mosaic, paisley print for the backing. The pattern is from Fons & Porter Love of Quilting, Sept/Oct 2016. The inside small squares of each block were made by paper piecing, something new for me. The machine quilting is a dragonfly pattern. I used fabric by the yard.

I SPY for Madison

My high school best friend's DIL had her first child, a little girl, and I wanted to make a quilt that would go and grow with her. I have been wanting to try an I Spy quilt and decided that this was the perfect opportunity. I used a variety of scraps, I spy, and fun material for the 5x5 blocks. It turned out crib or car size 34 x 40 inches. FMQ on my home machine. I used the disappearing 9 patch method to make the pattern. It was fun and fast.
