I was never a fan of the star block. I just didn't see why other quilter like it so much. Well, now I understand. After I finished the One Star Block Pattern Quilt top - the lights went off in my head and I got it. This is such a powerful block. To compliment the American Theme, why not make 9 smaller ones for a quilt top? These are my favorites of this collection. What did I learn? 1. The smaller the block, the more detail and time it takes to finish. (( Well worth it. )) 2. Never ever buy cheap batting again. (( I was trying to stretch my dollar but the batting debris - UGH was more work than saving a couple pennies. )) THANK-YOU for sharing this experience with me. I had a lot of fun, feelings of accomplishment, this definitely fed my creative side. and it did not end up in my UFO'S. - I feel just amazing right now. ♪. . . hi.ho.hi.ho.hi.ho.hi.ho. . . . In doing my research, I fell in love with a picture of the Cub Scout carrying this quilt. It was simple but the cutest. I was not disappointed with my outcome. (( I have to admit, I want a challenge when i quilt, therefore, I am not always looking for an easy quilt to sew. )) i was surprised at my reaction on how much i like the pattern and the results. What did I learn? When Ironing, be careful not the stretch the block. It will pucker when you quilt your top. (( This led to a little late ripping but the results were worth it. )) The Scout Oath or Promise. To do my duty to God and my country and to obey the Scout Law; To help other people at all times; To keep myself physically strong, mentally awake and morally straight. I really enjoyed working with this pattern. Since I had another 18 blocks to work with because After cutting my blocks in half I ended up with 36 blocks. I didn't want to repeat the pattern. Having fun turning my blocks, I finally, decided on the double square in a square. What did I learn? Quilting is even more fun than I imagined, but, we know, you already knew that. BE SAFE, STAY HAPPY, AND SENDING BLESSINGS. By MegaPurplette 2 LIKES | 576 VIEWS 4 & 5 OF A 12 PIECE PATRIOTIC WALL HANGING PROJECT DOUBLE THE FUN from Block Winter Vol 4 Issue 1. When i was doing my research and sifting through my Block magazines I remember always wanting to make this magic block. I was planning on only making 2 table toppers with this pattern. Double the Fun was no exaggeration because I ended up with 36 blocks. (( I am still working on my quilting math. )) What did i learn? When working with colors or mixing patterns, you should do a graph of your color ideas because then you will know exactly the outcome before trying to make a pattern with what you actually made. I still like the results but the squares would of matched better if I planned it ahead of time. Scrappy is good, though. GOD BLESS YOU & YOUR FAMILIES. What I mean is when you cut up words sometimes the meaning gets lost when you sew the pieces back together. The only disadvantage of using such a big piece, I didn't have a lot in my stash to use on the other quilt projects. What did I learn? - W♥W! It is crazy how one block can make so many different outcomes. I am sure there will be more to come. GOD BLESS YOU! By MegaPurplette 4 LIKES | 565 VIEWS PATRIOTIC WALLHANGING - 1 & 2 OF 12 Piece Project i wanted to make a donation in support of America, before I knew it, I was all involved into buying fabric, researching patterns, sewing, sewing, and more sewing. I started out simple. THE COMPASS STAR! one sheet pattern by Wendy Engel. I had a fear of Half Square Triangles, therefore, I avoided project that had them. This time I overcame my fear and just tried. I definitely need more practice but the fear is gone. What did I learn? It is very important to be aware of points. A lot of my points didn't make this project. GOD BLESS AMERICA. By MegaPurplette 5 LIKES | 508 VIEWS Baby Elephant Rag Quilt I loved the blue elephant fabric and made this for a new nephew. By Jkdp101 2 LIKES | 978 VIEWS Row by Row 2017 - On the Go I gathered the materials (half were just patterns, half were kits from the participating shops), and got to work. I used a consistent fabric for the sky and grass at the top of the quilt to create more unified whole. There were several applique rows, one paper pieced row, and the row with the sea turtles had yo-yos for the shells. The arrangement I used ended up with a 62x62 throw. I quilted it on a longarm machine, doing free motion quilting. With the poly batting, this is a quilt that can be used anywhere. By nancileigh 7 LIKES | 855 VIEWS Row By Row 2017 I won !!
