A quilt for one of my grandson-in-laws. He asked one day if I knew someone that made t-shirt quilts and my response for for who? When he said it was for him of course I was ready to tackle my first t-shirt quilt. Love the result even though it grew to be quite large. The Illusions block is one of my favorite MSQC tutorials and it is really effective with the t-shirts. The flame fabric worked out well for framing the blocks and the woodgrain was something from my stash as was the plaid for the backing. Some of the shirts had the large display while others just had the chest patch and the department on the back. To balance the blocks I appliqued the chest patches to the backs of the shirts. The final block is the extra chest patches and a couple of things I printed on fabric and appliqued. The sewing including all the quilting was done on my Brother NX2000 so yes you can quilt a large quilt at home. The open space in the t-shirts took some thought and I am pleased with the free-motion flames. Still a lot to learn but I am loving each new challenge. Keep quilting and keep sharing.

Sweet Baby Boy Quilt

This is for another Mom at church. Four down and five to go. That is until there is another new Mom to make a quilt for. Sweet pastel blues and greens with a touch of whimsy with the star fabric. The yellow quilting makes for a great contrast with the swirls and stars. I used a Robert Kaufman flannel that I prewashed for the backing and I also made two burp cloths with left over fabrics. This X's & O's is a fun and quick pattern.

Ohio Star and Courthouse Steps

This quilt is a very special one.I made this Quilt for my Sister Vickie,who was going through a great deal of hard times and I wanted this to cheer her up. She had a blood clot in her leg, they could not do anything but cut her leg off from just below the knee then a few weeks after they had to cut off above her knee, I would go to see her when I could in rehab, we were starting to know each other again. Towards the end of that summer 2014 I lost my dog Jake, we had to put him down do to his heart condition. Just before that, we went camping in New Hampshire that is where I finished my sisters quilt. I have not been quilting long only a few months even I was surprised how it came out.

Lemonade Lolliepop - Baby Girl Quilt

Our niece was having a baby girl so I made this quilt pattern. I used Wyndham Basic Pastels. I made two flannel receiving blankets and a couple of burp cloths and a cute zipper bag for short trips that has a see-through front and a detachable handle. Having the babies name embroidered was a cute addition. The pattern is called Lemonade Lillipop. I also used a soft pale Lavendar minky on the back. The cute flowers with hearts quilting is just so cute!
