Tree Lot

I saw this Daniela Stout pattern and example quilt at the San Diego Quilt Show in 2012and fell in love. Batiks! I got Robert Kaufman's Cornucopia 2 jelly roll for the trees, Cornucopia 2 Autumn for the backing and Makower UK Essentials White for the background. Fast forward two years and my cousin is getting married. They are from Missouri where trees and snow are a thing. They live in CA so a lap quilt would be perfect and fit in my novice wheelhouse. Daniela was incredibly helpful with the tree top block since the first time out I cut off the points by mistake. All quilting is trial and error. :) I pieced it and fretted. A wedding gift is a heady thing so I decided to have Missouri Star Quilt Company (LOVE them) do the machine quilting. The job they did with the snowflake pattern was amazing. I created a lovely label by printing a fabric background with lettering in a box in the center and sent it off with some $$ in case they really weren't quilt people. ;) Needless to say, I heard back today and they LOVE it. I am so gratified and stoked to keep on what has become an incredible journey. I love piecing and learned so much. Next up will be my first attempt at machine quilting myself.

Eva's 12th Birhday String Quilt

This quilt is for my great niece Eva (pronounced AYVA). I learned foundation piecing from Jenny on MSQC. I used pink, green, and yellow fabric strips cut from fat quarters. This is my first free motion project and will be ready by July, 2015.

Saints quilt for Jennifer.

My niece Jennifer just loves the New Orleans Saints. This was her Christmas gift (2015). Her mother and I decided to give it to her now but put it in Christmas paper. When I gave it to her she wanted to know if I forgot to give her a gift at Christmas. Once she seen what it was she was happy I gave it to her early.

Disappearing Pin Wheel

I made this for my granddaughter's 12th birthday using a 10" precuts collection called 'Love At First Bite'. I didn't follow the directions completely by choosing to use all the 10" squares in blocks rather than piecing some into a border. With more blocks and a simple border, I was able to make a queen size quilt to fit her bed.

Black and white baby

Made for my baby. Dark and light contrast is supposed to stimulate baby's vision. I thought this would be a fun way to help that. Turned out to be a perfect size to line her cradle. It is a lot of fun and different from all the pinks we had with our first three girls:)

Quilt Coccinelle

First, I started to do a mystery quilt in piece by number with the site http://www.paperpanache.com/ and it turned out to be a nice ladybird. I was wondering what to do with it when I received a nice texto. One of my best friend just had a little girl called "Camille". I as in vacation in Brittany at see side and decided to do a small Blanket for Camille... I searched and found a nice model on Moda: Love layer cake pattern. (http://www.unitednotions.com/Moda-Love-Layer-Cake-Quilt.pdf ).I selected the same fabric color than for the lady bird and did the nice quilt. For the quilting, I followed the advices of the craftsy class: Creative quilting with your walking foot from Jacquie Gering and I'm really happy to have followed her advice on making a spiral quilting... Result can be seen on the picture... I'm really proud and had some difficulties to give it away... But the baby was so nice and so nicely protected that I'm finally really happy! Life is beautiful! Have all a nice day.

Louisa's Quilt
