Hunter's Star
                  Pattern #PAT1207 from MSQC.  Jenny did a tutorial on it.  My 6th quilt, made during April -Sept 2016.  Entire quilt is Cotton + Steel Basics Collection, the main colors, the background and backing fabric.  Finished size, 87" x 88", a little bigger than the pattern.  Quilter's Dream wool batt.  Free-motion quilting by Camlyn Quilts in an edge-to-edge pattern called Slinky.  It shows best on the backside.  I made 4 pillowcases to match.  I fell hard for the Basics Collection and thought it would be great for Hunter's Star.  I started with charm packs, pulled out colors I didn't want and then filled in with yardage to make it more my colors.  After all the squares were done, I layed them out on the carpet, rearranging until I was satified.  I took black and white photos to check the light vs dark clusters.  I put on a tiny 1" border, as I really love an edge-to-edge full pattern look.  Lesson learned: fabric with a huge metalic component is way heavier than regular quilting fabric, and 9 yards of it for backing adds a lot of weight to the quilt.  It was on sale for $6/yard though, so...cool!  I do love a sale on yards and yards of backing fabric.  posted 09-22-18
