Pinwheel stars

I saw Jenny's tutorial on 2 for 1 pinwheel stars, and picked up a jelly roll of Kaffe fabric (on sale!). I took a bit more time to make the secondary pinwheel fabric match, and I added an inner border to set off the wonderful print I put around the quilt. I used a matching Kaffe extra wide fabric for the backing, and quilted it myself.

MoonShadow in a Field of Blue

MY daughter wanted a quilt. It had to have a modern flai, and her favorite color is blue! We negotiated many quilt patterns, and I bought several precut packages to try to accomodate the patterns she chose. This went on for a couple of years. Finally, I found the pattern for the quilt, published by the fabric company Benartex. The fabrics were designed by Michele D'Amore, and I ended up using three different collections of hers, all in the same color way. I have so much leftover fabric, I can make at least 4 lap quilts using it! Already made 2, and it hasn't put a dent in the fabric pile! Daughter loves her quilt!

Sunlight on the Coral Reef

I saw the Kaffee Fassett fabric jellyroll on sale as the daily deal from Missouri Star and just had to have it. I also ordered 2 charm packs of the same fabric but did not know what style of quilt I wanted to make. After much searching, I then designed this quilt using the strips pieced together and then cut on the diagonal. I wanted it to be a water themed quilt and the fabric reminded me of coral reefs so I placed the lighter green themed strips going diagonally through the quilt as though they were rays of sunshine, filtering through the water. I finally finished it this past February and gave it to my husband as a birthday gift. He loved it and we have it on our bed now, on those extra cold winter nights.
