I've wanted a quilt for our king sized bed for sometime and finally found a material combination I love. I'd had this focus material for years it was the others that gave me problems. I wanted a quilt that would look nice on the head and foot board that I made from old five panel doors. The doors were original to our 116 year old home. I am pleased with how they look together.

free motion, batting makes a big difference

I am making pillows for Christmas presents this year. In the first one I used 80/20 cotton. In this one I used is an inexpensive high loft poly batting. What a difference, it really enhances the quilting. Just don't look too close at the quilting, I am just a learning to FMQ......

Moms Lap Blanket

My Mother likes roses and when I saw this charm pack I knew it was for her. At 86 she is still on the go all the time but I wanted her to be warm when she rested on the couch so For Mother's Day i choose to make a lap blanket for her. She loved it. The pattern is "Dressed to the Nines" from the April 2015 Block magazine. Such a fun pattern. I also used the scallops, waves and vines template for the sides. It made it so easy to do. It has a rosebud border, cream vine large border and green vine backing.

Sailing II: Baby Luke's quilt

This is the second time I've used this pattern and I really worked on the quilting by trying to make the quilting look like waves under the boats. I did loop-to-loops by the sailboats to give the impression of wind. This is for a brand new baby.
