    I made this quilt for my great room using a couple of layer cakes, matching charm pack and one of those "Cake Mix" paper patterns and quilted it on my Q'nique. I'm pretty happy with the result but don't think I'll mess with the paper cake mixes again...seems like more trouble than it's worth.

    My sister loves polka dots, so when I found a layer cake of swiss dot fabrics, I reserved those for her. Then I saw Jenny's tutorial on the Tea Cake pattern - it was just perfect for the layer cake. I put a larger polka dot as the backing just for fun. "Make a Tea Cakes quilt with Jenny"

    July 3, 2018 was the anniversary day of cancer free for one year. I received a photo that afternoon of my friend, a cancer survivor, giving a gift to this young lady. Yes, it was the Bee Quilt I had finished. I was asked to make a quilt label saying “New” and the date. This year the the word for her journey is “New”. I was so proud to be a part of the celebration and I will get to meet her on the 15th of this month. Yes, my heart is full and more than ever I feel this is the reason I quilt.

When I found out I was going to be a grandmother, I immediately started this Harry Potter themed quilt for my new grandson (due in January). The front: Background was done with yardage and the rest was made with scraps and fat quarters from my stash. The back: 10" squares of Harry Potter Collection by Camelot Design Studio and yardage from stash. Quilting by Rainey Turner.

    In 2014 our middle son Michael introduced us to his girlfriend Amanda. She is such a lovely, hard-working young woman. I quizzed her on different topics, especially her favorite color, purple. I set out to make her a quilt but was side tracked by unfortunate events in our family. Finally this September I decided to start quilting again. I had the fabric, the pattern and the time so off I started. This quilt is the third quilt I have ever made and it proved to be a challenge. I presented it to Amanda this year as a Christmas present.

    I was on the MSQC deal of the day and saw this layer cake I needed to get. I had already decided I needed to make the bordered Periwinkle and I thought this would be great. I bought additional layer cakes and some yardage. And off I went. I ended up having enough to make two. Well the second was actually made with the blocks I joined together the wrong way and had set aside. It is a lap and there is such a big difference but I love them both. I decided to give it to my son for Christmas. A week after Christmas my daughter in law calls me. Can you enlarge Jer's quilt. It is perfect for our bedroom. I said let me send you the photo of the king I made. She loved it and I have decided to mail it to her. Although I love the fabric and the quilt it looks lousy in our bedroom.
