Kansas Troubles Favorites

I wanted to do a "manly" quilt from a layered cake. I selected Kansas Troubles Favorites. Since I wanted my quilt to be a bit larger than just sewing the 10 x 10's together, I inserted sashing, and an outer border. It was quilted in a meandering leaf pattern. My hubby loved how it turned out!

Hailey's Stars by Angela Walters

I absolutely loved this project. I had some material leftover from the fabric line and made the quilt reversable. I did straight line quilting with a walking foot and it had an echo of the star design on the grey back.

Stitcher’s Garden

Another from my Mom needs to finish pile. This was a BOM quilt from long ago that was used by stores to help sewist learn their machines. Lots of appliqué and fancy stitches. Mom made one in greens and yellows that she gave to my Aunt about 7 years ago. This one sat in a box until this spring when she decided to pass it to me to finish. Using my sister’s floor we laid it all out with the fabrics she had and figured out the layout and borders. A bolt of purple from my step-sister’s mom’s stash turned out to be the perfect shade to help us finish this quilt. Sorry picture of the yellow one from my Aunt is blurry; but you can see the color differences.

Silver Stones

Having recently just lost my husband, I am first now able to get back to quilting. This is called Silver Stones and the designer is Ariga Mahmoudlou and all the materials are from Robert Kaufman using the Wishwell - Silverstone pattern. Has to be long arm quilted yet but the finished top is 70" x80".

Tree of Life

This is the second quilt I made for my son. With the help of my daughter-in-love, we came up with some ideas. I put them all together in this tree of life/three little birds quilt. Three little birds on the right are his three children and on the left are the parents. Notes the birds are singing of course are the notes to the song. Background fabric is satin. The tree and leaves are cotton batik.

Tessellations in squares.

This is part of this years sprint to Christmas. I had a matched pair of layercakes that had been in my stash for over a year. I came across this old tutorial and thought I'd give it a shot. When I'd made it through the first layercake I hated the outcome. It just didn't look right. I felt as though I was committed at that point and soldiered on. Now, I find I like it.
