My sisters and I have been working on a birthday present for our Mom. I saw this as a table runner, not sure where, and thought it would make a neat hanging for Mom. My older sister does beautiful felt work so I asked her if she would like to work on this. My younger sister was the postage and other money person. From the last of the Mom and Grandma’s stash fabrics I put together the wall hanging and then mailed it to my sister to design flowers. We then on an in person visit picked out the fabrics and I took it all back home to complete just in time to give for Mom’s birthday.

Family First

This is a quilt my sister requested that I do. It is the lattice quilt pattern and because there were enough spaces on the edge I was able to embroider my parents names, marriage date and all of the birthdates of my siblings. Fun project.

Christmas Lonestar Wall Hanging

I've been wanting to take on the challenge of a lonestar quilt for some time now. Yet every time I see someone post their lonestar project, I hear how frustrated they get. Since I'm still new at this (hasn't even been a year yet that I've been sewing, quilting, longarming, etc.), I decided to start small and do a wall hanging version to dip my toe in the lonestar pool. The center is a bit wonky, but others have assured me that it should turn out ok when I put it on the longarm. Either way, it was a great first try and definitely more lonestars in my future!

Winter Campers

I was asked to make a Christmas-themed camper wall hanging. After completing the 18" square quilt, the gal asked for three more, and wanted them all connected into one large hanging. What a task! And I had only 4 weeks to complete it. She was happy, I am happy, and wiser. I'll start my "ask-fors" further in advance from now on. Whew!

Blackberry Pie

A friend passed along to me several past issues of various quilting magazines. I love browsing through them as they give me inspiration. The color choice in one of those lovelies got me going. I FMQ on my domestic machine, so I had to alter the design and pattern a bit, but the resulting 44"x44" wall hanging is just what my brown living room needed.

THROW BACK THURSDAY

This quilt was done by my Great Grandmother and it hangs on the wall behind my bed. I made it a hanger after I somewhat put a backing on it and lined it with a cord.

Dream Big Wall Hanging

Ladies...I didn't do this. Darn! beyond my skills. One of my good friends is self taught in FMQ and has been doing it for 18 years. She wanted to give it a whirl...She is now addicted to doing these big panels and it has been great for her business as I let her hang it up for a couple of weeks in her shop. This is just beautiful and will hang in one of our guest rooms with the quilt I'm almost done with.

A Soldier's Journey

This quilt was made to honor my nephew when he retired from his many years of service. His countless trips overseas, including the Middle East. I transferred to fabric a picture of each of his assignments. I used his now retired uniforms to make the blocks. His patches and buttons to embellish the quilt. It took over a year to finish. It tells his story. I am so proud of him. I presented this to him at his retirement party.

I am super excited to introduce Picket Fence to you! She is the second in my budding line of quilt patterns! Picket Fence is a versatile pattern that looks great in many fabric collections! North-woods Bears

I love nature and I love to quilt. Wildlife panels are a favorite of mine. This panel is Naturescapes Black Bear Adventure by Kevin Daniel for Northcott, I cut my leaves, paw prints & bears out of batiks and raw edge appliqued them onto the background. I have a relative who is a professional long arm quilter quilt my project. She did 9 designs (hand guided); 6 colors of thread. There is a sleeve on the back for hanging.

Builder's For Christ t- shirt Quilt

My first (and probably last) t-shirt quilt is for a dear friend who leads our volunteer Builder's for Christ group based out of Maryland. He had led this group for almost 20 years, coordinating trips from Missouri, to Michigan, to New York, to Tennessee, and Maine ( and more!). We spend one week each June building a church building for a church, sometimes a bigger sanctuary, sometimes a brand new church's first building. God uses these buildings to spread the gospel all over the United States. This quilt is made from t-shirts from each trip. He loved it and plans to hang it at his business.

You Are My Sunshine

I saw this kit, and it reminded me of my mom singing to her babies. It was her favorite song to sing. I just had to make it for her. I purchased the kit and scaled it down for a 12" mini. I see at least one more of these in my future.
