First Grandchild Quilt

Monster Truck Quilt for Lukas

My nephew & his wife are expecting their third baby son soon so I have made this gorgeous quilt using monster truck panel & added some pinwheel borders. I didn't have quite the right size piece for the backing so decide to get creative & make some pinwheels & add to the backing to give me the size required. I'm thrilled with how it has turned out.

Various baby quilts

I have made many baby quilts over the years. I never work with much of a plan, other than "using flannel", or "using pastel colors" or "using floral prints"! I am so cheap--I like to use scraps, cut-up old sheets, or fabrics given to me by others. I hope even though it's a mish-mash, you'll still think they are pretty!

Embroidery hoops

I am trying to clean out some drawers and closets as down sizing soon we hope to a smaller place. I had a large supply of hoops from when I cross stitched. So I will be posting many of them here in the next few days. This first one is not much embroidery work at all just added words to a nice print I had from a left over baby quilt I made some time back.

9 Day Crazy Quilt

With nine days until the baby shower, I shopped fabric, designed blocks, and completed this baby "play rug/quilt", which I consider as having been inspired. At the time I was working seven to five days and only had evening and weekend to do this. It was the first quilt I had made in ten years and was before I had started doing other than look at pictures for hints of "how to".

In 2018 one of my resolutions was to sew all my quilts that year from fabric in my stash. I was more successful than I expected and it really wasn't that hard to do. "Ella" was the last quilt pieced in 2018 and came from my stash of batiks. I had a large number of cream batik 4" squares that I had cut for another quilt and the other batiks had been collected over the past 6-8 years. The pattern called for using charm squares but I changed all the squares to 4".

Monday’s Washday

I found this quilt in the May/June 2017 issue of Quiltmaker magazine, and I knew that it would be perfect for a little girl. I modified the original design by using my Silhouette machine to create the dresses, and I used rickrack instead of fabric for the clothes line.
