    The light must have been just right when we exited a quilt show to make this tree so inspiring! It took two years to figure out and then get comfortable with the process to make this wall hanging. The foliage fabric was leftovers from a quilt for my Aunt, the variety of colors were perfect.     I had a picture of a twisty tree in her fall glory that I wanted to quilt. But how? Then I saw the reverse stained glass process and decided to try it first in flowers. It took eight before the drawing itch was satisfied. I did Roses, Poppies, Pansies, Tulips, Wild Roses, Morning Glories, Daffodils, and Fuchsia. Patterns available for all.

    I took up quilting over a year ago. I love the process, the challenge and creativity with each project. I was going to see my sister - who is a professional storyteller, and someone who is strong and free spirited - on a recent trip back to my home country and when I asked her what I could bring her, she asked for a quilt. Luckily the winter holidays were just around the corner and after 2 weeks of non stop obsessive thinking, designing, fabric accumulating and cutting, ironing and sewing I finally had something that reflected her personality! I rented time on a long arm machine in my city and loved the experience of not having to squeeze the layers through my tiny sewing machine!

The gift was a beautiful Persian Rug to take home with him. He thought of a wedding gift to give them when he returned. He requested flowers intertwined throughout wedding rings. I now need to free motion quilt feathers and fillers.

    Every fall we go to the mountains to hear the Elk bugle. This week I started my Mountain Wildlife quilt blocks. The first block is of an elk. I used fall colors and added a bit of texture. The antlers are made of wool felt. Hopefully the bear claw is next so stay tuned.

    July 3, 2018 was the anniversary day of cancer free for one year. I received a photo that afternoon of my friend, a cancer survivor, giving a gift to this young lady. Yes, it was the Bee Quilt I had finished. I was asked to make a quilt label saying “New” and the date. This year the the word for her journey is “New”. I was so proud to be a part of the celebration and I will get to meet her on the 15th of this month. Yes, my heart is full and more than ever I feel this is the reason I quilt.
